I have previously blogged about Apollo Beach being small time old style Florida, my type of Florida. It has far less commercialism than the Gulf Coast communities do. In addition, this extended trip just happened to occur during the dreariest month in Ohio. Moreover, it took place during the unusually cold record-breaking winter that has/is occurring in the Midwest and Northeast.
The manatees return each winter to the Teco Big Bend power plant in Apollo Beach and to the federal manatee sanctuary located there. The manatees like to return to the warm water of the power plants discharge units. That would be me, I like being on or in the warm water too.
Thankfully, for me this year the seasonal affective disorder and dreary days of winter should be shorter. I'm not and Apollo Beach manatee yet, but it was sure a lot of fun practicing!!!
