Generally speaking I am one of those people that travel over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and usually it is to be with family. However one year I was in Bangkok and didn’t even realize it was Thanksgiving Day. (Somehow you seem to lose track of time when you travel.) When we went out for dinner we were asked “would you like turkey and dressing?” Confused I responded “no I want Thai!” I was then reminded what day it was in the US.
Thanksgiving Day also kicks of the Christmas holiday shopping season with “Black Friday.” However this year the Black Friday sales start on Thursday Thanksgiving Day! I have even heard Thanksgiving referred to as “Gray Thursday” (Really? Come on people!) I confess I used to be a “Black Shopper” but gave that up for the comfort of my laptop!
So during this holiday of thanks while you are traveling either by car or air and bump into unexpected delays or if you are shopping and encounter an unpleasantness, PLEASE stop, take a deep breath and try to remember what you are thankful for!
