I just watched the Royal Wedding, it was beautiful and made me look back at my old photos from our trip to Great Britain. Wow it has been almost 30 years!
I wish I had taken more pics of the Abbey. I also wish I had had a better camera! But then an old 110 camera (remember those?) certainly could never compete with the digitals of today!
It's not like the Abbey is the Twin Towers that I can never see again (wish I had more pics of them too) it's just that there are so many other places in the world to see yet!
Tonight is the opening of Disney's Movie "African Cats." It is filmed in the Mara in Kenya. A portion of first week proceeds will go toward the Saving the Savannah in Kenya. The Mara is a magnificent place anad is an important area of our fragile earth. Please tell your family and friends to see this movie during its first week and help save the Mara.
I have only been home 22 days and I am already having that "got to go feeling." (And I don't mean number one!)
I miss my backpack, my camera and my passport. My mind is pre-occupied with "where next?"
My inner gypsy soul is trying to get out! Our lovely Ohio spring weather is certainly not helping me!
WOW !!! Not only did I post a report on Independenttraveler.com but I was just informed I was selected as the Trip Report of the Week!
We recently returned from a safari to Kenya with Lion World Tours. The price of the trip was an unbelievable bargain so I really wasn't expecting too much. Never ASSUME because you know what that means...it makes an A_s out of U and me.
What a phenominal trip! The Ethiopian Airlines service was wonderful, with modern headrest TV/ music/ game screens and seemingly endless food. The local tour operators were friendly, knowledgeable and effiecient. The accommodations were varied and unique to their settings.
But best of all was our animal encounters...we saw everything...the BIG 5 and much more. We watched as a lion pride devoured a recently killed Cape Buffalo and later saw three sleek cheetahs give chase to a large Topi which was amazingly able to kick off and evade its attackers.
Oh and did I forget we saw countless babies since we arrived shortly after the birthing season.
Each day was a day of wonder and amazement, we all suspected that we must be dreaming because each day progressive got more spectacular.
I am pretty sure that my future adventures will really need to try hard to trump this one.....It is mostly possibly
"THE BEST OF THE BEST"
And one last thought, thanks to all of our tourmates that made the journey even more special.
